Dear Parents

We have enjoyed an exciting, fun-filled week at the Pre-Prep!  It is wonderful to see so many parents visiting on the open mornings.  If you have not yet had a chance to pop in on your allocated visiting day, please try and take some time to do so.  The boys love being tour guides and showing off their wonderful learning spaces.

Our Pre-Prep teachers have taken up the challenge to enter into the Vusa 24 hour cycle challenge.. This is linked to a Backabuddy page - all money raised will go to Vusa. Please follow https://youtu.be/CZuKKLk-mDE to see what it is about.  We will include our backabuddy link in our next correspondence so please support us.

Kilkd by Pam Tudin - review by Mrs Fraser

The talk on social media geared for Pre-Prep parents on Monday was food for thought. It was very well presented and easily understood. Finding the balance with devices and children these days is challenging and she gave good ideas to put in place to make the balance a little easier. It was also very important for us to realise that while we think we know what is out there online for our children, we always need to update our knowledge and stay in touch with new trends and apps. Pam enlightened us as to what our children might be experiencing or will experience as they get older. Knowledge is power and we are grateful to have experts in the field to empower us in this ever-changing field. For those that missed this presentation, please see the information below under

PRE-PREP PRAYER GROUP
Message from our Youth Pastor

The Lord be with you.

This is a week where we reflect on the prayer our Lord taught His disciples, and the call was for us to immerse ourselves in a prayerful life.

Let us pray
Generous God, you give us all things in abundance: help us to hold lightly the fading things of this earth so that we grasp tightly the lasting things of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns in the unity of blessed Trinity.

There is a small group of parents who actively pray every second Thursday at 07:30 for our school. They meet in the boardroom area of  The Mitre coffee shop. Any parents are welcome to join us. We also have an email address which has been set up for all parents, staff and students of the entire Bishops community.

You are welcome to send any prayer request/s to the following address:

bishopsprayerrequests@gmail.com

This will be a confidential line. If you would like to find out more about the prayer meeting you can also email the above address.

HIGHLIGHTS
Grade 2

The Grade 2s have had a full (but fun) week of learning. We learned that when two vowels go out walking in Letterland ‘the first one does that talking’ as ‘oa’ does in words like boat and coat. We practiced reading and writing both analogue and digital time, but the highlight so far this term has to be learning to write in cursive. We are so proud of our Grade 2s and all that they have accomplished in the classroom as well as how well they have played together this week!

Grade 1

What an exciting week in Grade 1! We have been waiting with bated breath to finally play on our new jungle gym. We finally got to open it up on Wednesday and cut off all the tape. The boys are having so much fun and enjoying every moment they can on it. The new structure will keep the boys engaged for many hours while exploring the outdoors. We carried on with our farm theme and learnt all about pigs. We read the story, “If you give a pig a pancake….” and also focused on the fairy tale, “The three little pigs.” We created some posters and wrote some creative sentences. We can also confidently count in 3’s now. Ons geniet ons Afrikaans rympies en weet watter dae van die week dit is.

Grade R
The Grade Rs learnt about Continents this week. Some of the activities included building the Burj Khalifa out of Planx and volcanoes in the sandpit. They learnt to order the continents from biggest to smallest and identify them on a world map. They enjoyed coding on a map and landed up in various locations on Earth. What a fun week!

Grade N

It has been a busy week in Grade N, learning about insects, playing, exploring and spending time with our friends.
