Dear Parents
We are launching into one of the most exciting weeks of the year, READATHON 2022! Parents came in today and transformed our building into a forest fairyland. One little boy, when walking through this morning commented “this is really a forest, I’m telling you now.” Thank you to those willing helpers this morning that helped to create this wonderland. Your help and time is so very appreciated by all at the Pre-Prep! Mrs Wallace has put together a magnificent array of activities for the week.
Right in the middle of the week, we are hosting our first Grandparents/Special Guest tea since before COVID. We are expecting around 500 guests, starting off at our chapel at 8.15am. The College students will be using the chapel before us, so we are only able to enter the Memorial Chapel at 8am once they have left. If anyone arrives before then, please feel free to take a walk around or wait on the large grass area outside the Brooke chapel (the smaller chapel) until the main doors open. Kindly note that no beverages are please to be brought into the chapel. The bathrooms are at the theatre, to the one side of the chapel should anyone need to use these facilities.
From Tuesday we will have a lovely book display in our foyer, where you can purchase books at a good price. There will be many exciting titles to choose from so please take a little time out to pop down and view the display. I have included the flyer in the section below as well.
Wishing Mr Tsotso a fabulous birthday on 30th August! May you all enjoy a wonderful weekend; keep warm!
Kind regards

TAKE NOTE |
Choir Evening

The Choirs of the Pre-Prep, Prep and College came together in the Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening to celebrate that we are, once again after COVID, able to sing in groups. It was an evening of showcasing the work we had done with the various choirs – in a relaxed manner. Everyone walked away with their cups filled to the brim. It was just such a wonderful evening of great choral music and togetherness. We are very proud of our Pre-Prep choir for delivering a beautiful and energetic performance. |

Message from our Youth Pastor
Baptism
The Lord be with you
It has been a fun and educational week with the boys as we looked at the first sacrament of the church and our entrance and affirmation to our faith. Baptism is the beginning of the call and ministry that God has placed on us and the washing away and cleansing of our sins. This is all achieved when we repent, ask for God's pardoning and get accept into God's family.
We reflected on the gospel of Mathew 3:13-17 where the recording of Jesus’ baptism is found. We saw how John prepared the way and eventually baptized Jesus in the Jordan river. The Holy Spirit came down in the symbol of a dove and God spoke from heaven affirming this sacrament and sealing it with bold acceptance and authority saying - "this is my beloved Son in whom I am most pleased”. It was amazing to learn that at baptism we are confirmed to being the family of God and are beloved before Him.
Let us pray
Dear Lord, we thank you we are all members of your Holy family, and we thank you for the love you have for each one of us. We are sorry for all that we do wrong- either in thought, word or deed, or in what we have left undone. Please forgive us of our sins and help us to live pure lives and pray that we may grow in our faith and shine as light in the world.
Amen |

HIGHLIGHTS |
Grade N |
 |
We have continued loving our Dinosaur theme this week with the boys creating different kinds of new dinosaurs and naming them. We have loved our new wooden toys purchased recently creating much opportunity for fantasy and role play in the art room. Our singing voices are ready for our grandparents and special guests next week and we can't wait to show them how beautifully we sing. |
Grade R |
 |
The Grade R’s have had a busy week practising their songs and little skits for the Grandparent’s Day show. In the classroom we are all being treated to fascinating information about sea creatures as the boys share their orals. We’ve learnt about the Megalodon, different marine mollusks and the Crown of Thorns starfish. Vicky Violet appeared in the form of a vest, vitamins and pretty violets. The boys have been learning about the importance of respecting property and that being respectful to others is a way of saying “I love you”. We are making props for our theme of Fairy Tales next week and are excitedly looking forward to listening to these familiar stories as well hearing a few new ones. |
Grade 1 |
 |
Our story of the week is Elmer by David McKee and our grade 1 boys loved learning all about embracing and celebrating our differences. They also enjoyed sharing wonderful facts about elephants. During art the boys created topsy turvy wild animals and we hope the grandparents enjoy viewing these next week.
We continue to learn about blends in phonics and inTRoduced r blends to by our boys one FReezing FRiday with the team from NU and their BRilliant BLenders. They loved learning about healthy eating and made SMoothies with STRawberries, FRozen yoghurt (with PR obiotics), CRushed ice and FResh apple juice. Thank you Karolina Kurowska for SPoiling us! |
Grade 2

The boys have been working in teams getting ready for Grandparents day. Each class has had to decorate their classroom doors with Fairytale characters. Our classes have been a hive of activity as we have prepared for our Readathon and Grandparent's / Special Guest's tea. Mrs Daames’ class visited Newlands Forest this week and learned how to build a shelter and were surprised to by how little we actually need to survive.
