THURSDAY 19 September 2019
Dear Parents

We have come to the end of a very busy term during which a great number our parents have helped in so many ways with lifts, in the tuckshops for all our sport match days, at House events, with donations to charities and needy organisations, just to name a few. Thank you all for your time, kindness and care. Your help and support is incredibly important and valuable.

The Bishops Prep Cricket Festival starts tomorrow on the College fields and runs through until Sunday evening. There will be twelve teams involved, six from the Western Cape, four from the Eastern Cape and two from Gauteng. We wish our U13A team a successful and enjoyable festival.

We are introducing new sports software next term for our practices and fixtures. Please follow the step-by-step instructions HERE.

The first day next term, Tuesday 1st October, will be a full day with sport after school: U9, U12 and U13 Cricket, U10 and U11 Water polo, Tennis, U10 Athletics, Swimming and Judo.

Enjoy the holidays.

Kind regards

NEWS
Sandwich Outreach
A big thank you to the Grade 3 class, for providing over 600 sandwiches and lots of fruit. Some PA members met with the principal at Athwood this week and were able to be there when the children received their sandwiches. The children come from children’s homes, informal settlements and areas surrounding the school in Hanover Park, a community rife with gangsterism, drug abuse, crime and abject poverty. The Bishops community were thanked over and over again for the contribution that we make to their school day on a Tuesday.
Grade 6 Book Talk
The Grade 6s attended a book talk at St George's Grammar School this week. Popular Australian author, Andy Griffiths, entertained the crowd with anecdotes from his Treehouse series.
Takkie Drive
The College Grade 10 boys would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Takkie Drive at the Prep. They have been absolutely thrilled with the response. As of yesterday, 555 pairs have been collected. The drive will end today. The class that has won the "Pizza Party" will be announced early next term. Well done to all!
